What Type of Writer Are You?

There are different types of writing: short stories, novels, articles, emails, proposals and more. Just as there are different kinds of writing, there are different kinds of writers too.

Although each writer has a unique style, we all fall into some categories. Here are some common types of writerswhich one are you?

The Conscientious Plotter

This type of writer has everything planned and ready before starting any piece of writing. They outline everything before getting into the real thing.

If you are the Conscientious Plotter, you:

  • Are sure to have a bullet journal, graphic organizers, and a schedule for each and every step.
  • Love outlines
  • Are always ready for anything as you have everything planned out
  • Are the one who makes plans in your group

The Finicky One

Every Finicky One might be a Conscientious Plotter, but not every Conscientious Plotter is a Finicky One. They are very hard to please, even in their own writings.

If you are the Finicky One, you:

  • Have piles of papers with unsatisfied writing
  • Have heavily bookmarked guides to writing
  • Are often called a perfectionist
  • Always try to find the perfect words
  • Rewrite something again and again
  • Are the last one in your group to be satisfied

Every writer has their own writing style as said before. It is just that you nitpick on every little thing. So, remember this:

No one is perfect—that’s why pencils have erasers.

 The Extemporaneous Scripter

The Extemporaneous Scripter knows no schedule. They write when inspiration strikes, even if it is the middle of the night. They might sit at your computer for hours on end with nothing to write. But if inspiration strikes, nothing can stop them from writing.

If you are the Extemporaneous Scripter, you:

  • Have a steady supply of coffee (or anything you like)
  • Have a notebook and some sticky notes handy
  • Message your most trusted reader at any hour
  • Never put away something for later
The Escapist

The Escapist writes just to get out of the real world. Whether it is journaling, fiction writing or a beautiful social media post, they dream through written words.

If you are the Escapist, you:

  • Daydream a lot (even if it is nighttime)
  • Have ink-stained hands (but not if you use a pencil or a computer!)
  • Always look dreamy from the outside
The Unpresuming Writer

The Unpresuming Writer never call themselves a writer. They have great ideas and writing skills but are just a little shy to show them to the world.

If you are the Unpresuming Writer, you:

  • Keep all your notebooks and files in a secret place
  • Are anxious when someone reads your work
  • Forbid others from reading your unedited drafts
  • Brush of praise that comes to you
We don't tell you to boast away, but you could let some praise go into you. Also, you can talk about your achievements freelyyou deserve it.

The Idea Source

When it is time for brainstorming, the Idea Source must be there. Whatever the topic is, they have dozens of great ideas.

If you are the Idea Source, you:

  • Have a world of unwritten verses
  • Have a notebook filled with works of different themes
  • Have some sticky notes handy
Whatever your writing style is, always keep in mind that everyone is unique. Use your style to the fullest to gain the results you set your sights on.
