Managing Your Writing Time

Hello guys! It has been a long time since we met. I am really sorry for not posting any blog posts. I just got a little caught up in school, exams, competitions and other stuff.

Talking about being caught up in other work, there is something all writers must practice—how to manage writing and other work. Of course, I haven't been active on my blog but I have been focusing on my new writing project amidst all the other work. What's the new project? Well, it is my third book! I am in the process of writing my new book, and once it is done you guys will be the first ones to know.

Writing any text—an essay, story, poem or book—needs complete concentration, so that you don't get distracted by the other works on your list. However, this might get difficult if writing isn't the main part of your life. Today, I'll share some ways through which I make productive time for my writing projects.

First and foremost, you must set goals and prioritise them. This is something we see or hear everywhere, but only a handful of people follow this. Believe me, miracles happen when you plan out what to do when and how. Sometimes, other works come on top of your writing goal. Make sure your goals are realistic, so you don't get intimidated by them. If so, complete the other works first, so you can focus on your writing without hurrying or getting distracted.

Add some time for writing in your busy schedule. If you don't add a specific time for writing to your schedule, it is most likely that you might even forget about it. Leave some room in your schedule where you do nothing but relax. Surprisingly, almost always you seldom do anything during this time.

Keep away from distractions. Distractions can come in any form, from a notification on your phone to unexpected happenings in your surroundings. To avoid them, first, find out what are your biggest distractions, and then start taking steps to eliminate them. Sometimes, even exhaustion can welcome distractions. So, it is imperative you take breaks and be focused.

Plan out a writing routine. Think about what to do before you start writing. This will make your writing time more productive. Also, find a suitable place for your writing. It could also have things to draw inspiration from.

These are things you could follow to be more productive in writing in your engaged life. I have been using these steps in writing my third book, and honestly, I have been more effective in writing than ever. Let me know in the comments if you follow any other effective writing techniques.
